SAP is the market leader in enterprise application software. Headquartered in Walldorf, Germany, it is a multinational corporation with more than 105,000 employees in 130 offices worldwide.

SAP Learning Journeys provide training in SAP’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) software SAP S/4HANA and subjects such as financial management, supply chain management and human capital management. SAP Learning Journeys courses are free, but certification exams are not.

SAP will offer vouchers for 50 individuals with a refugee background in Japan to complete SAP Learning Journeys courses and take certification exams for free. As it is ideal for interested individuals to obtain two certifications to be competitive for internship opportunities within the SAP ecosystem, each successful applicant will receive two vouchers.

The first application deadline has been extended to Monday, July 10, 2023
Please check the eligibility and application details below, and apply by this date through the link at the bottom of this page.

There will be a second application period in August if all spots are not filled in July.

Eligibility

To apply for this opportunity, you must

    • have a refugee background and reside in Japan
    • have foundational knowledge of technology and business
    • have a strong interest in pursuing a career in software development, consultancy, or data analysis
    • be a high school graduate preferably with some university education in relevant fields
    • be under 45 years old
    • have basic Japanese proficiency of JLPT N5/N4 (CEFR A1/2) level or higher
    • have completed “Boost Your Career with SAP Skills” in the Student Zone (course duration 25 minutes)
    • have completed at least one beginner level course* to make sure that this is the right opportunity for you

*To choose the right course to take, applicants should first think about the type of work they are interested in. On the SAP Learning Journeys page, filter courses by “role” (consultant, developer, administrator, data analyst, etc.) and “level” (beginner, intermediate, advanced).
*If you are interested in consultancy, you may take this Forage course (SAP Technical Consulting Experience) instead of one beginner level course in SAP Learning Journeys.

Your Journey

Successful applicants (learners) should already have taken introductory courses in the Student Zone to understand what SAP does. After their selection, they will take specialized courses. Courses can be filtered by “role,” “level,” and whether they lead to certification.

Learners must complete at least one course that leads to certification within six months and contact JICUF. The first voucher will be provided for the learner to take a certification exam at no cost. The second course must be completed within a year, and the same procedure will be repeated. Learners lose the right to both vouchers if they do not complete the first course within six months, and lose the second voucher if they do not complete the second course within a year.

Here is a blog post that outlines the path to a certification starting from zero. Applicants are encouraged to read this first.
