First Cohort of GCF Fellows Completes the Program
Thirteen ICU students who participated in the Global Citizen Fellowship (GCF)—a program launched by JICUF last April—successfully completed the fellowship in March. GCF is designed to provide students with an opportunity to reflect on themselves, deepen their understanding of the world and their role within it, and explore ways to contribute to the common good.
The inaugural year of GCF consisted of the following five components:
- Off-campus retreats
- Online discussion sessions
- Individual coaching
- A two and a half week summer program in New York
- The design and implementation of a social impact project
Over the course of the year—from the kickoff in April 2025 to the completion ceremony in March 2026—the fellows had a unique opportunity to reflect about their values, learn how to work together as a team and encounter various challenges. Throughout, they demonstrated remarkable personal growth and the JICUF team is proud of the journey that each student traveled. In its second year, the program expanded eligibility to include students from universities other than ICU, and the selection results were announced in early March. Of the 12 newly selected fellows, nine are ICU students, and three are from other universities.
