Introducing Fusae Nara, JICUF’s New Chair of the Board

In April, Fusae Nara, who joined the JICUF Board of Trustees in 2022, was appointed the Chair of the Board. She succeeds David Janes, who received the inaugural Ruth Miller Global Citizenship Award upon his retirement.
Fusae is a graduate of ICU who received her BA in international law and MA in public administration with a concentration in international law. After receiving her JD from Hofstra University School of Law, she became a litigator and leads the Japan Practice Team at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP.
Please join us in welcoming her in her new role!
Message from Fusae
In April 2025, I became the chair of JICUF’s Board of Trustees. It is a great privilege to have a relationship with ICU where I studied from 1978 to 1985 earning BA and MA. By the 1980s, we did not hear about JICUF’s involvement in the establishment of ICU. I was extremely moved when I learned about JICUF’s history after I moved to New York.
Currently, JICUF strives to nurture global citizens by supporting various programs including refugee higher education and grants to students and faculty. I hope to be able to effectively contribute to JICUF’s mission by working with its staff and other trustees. I hope you will join us on this journey.
