Techrise: Empowering Youth through Code

JICUF April 24, 2017

Applicant: Robyn Natsuko Shinozaki
Grant Amount: ¥544,000

TECHRISE trains Nepali youths to become competent web developers and provide economic opportunities in the digital field. The idea of the TECHRISE project was motivated by the youth underemployment issue Shinozaki witnessed in her 5 months stay in Nepal, and Mouri’s passion for coding. Upon realizing that coding skills have the potential to open up new economic opportunities for individuals and galvanize entrepreneurship among the local youth, TECHRISE was established. TECHRISE aims to build a supportive community of young web developers and aspiring entrepreneurs to help them become leaders in the IT field in Nepal. The goal by the end of the initial nine-month project is to train more than 200 Nepali youths at TECHRISE.
