This fall, ICU International Relations Professor Stephen R. Nagy was awarded a ¥1,100,000 grant from the Japan ICU Foundation to run a short-term academic exchange and research program called the Japan-China Young Leaders Development Project (YLDP). Read about the participants and their plans.
On Sunday, September 18th, the JICUF hosted an ICU and ICU High School Joint Information Session at the Interchurch Center, where our office is located. ICU President Junko Hibiya, who was in New York to attend the JICUF trustees meeting, gave a presentation about the university to an audience mostly comprised of prospective students and their families.
On Friday, September 16th, the JICUF hosted an ICU alumni & friends reception in New York City to welcome President Junko Hibiya and Professor Heather Montgomery from Tokyo. The two guests from ICU were in the city to attend the JICUF’s semi-annual Board of Trustees meeting. The reception was held at Shinbashi restaurant in Midtown and was attended by approximately 80 alumni, friends, trustees and staff.
The Sacred Music Center hosted a special performance event, “Sacred Voices”, in the university chapel on June 4th. Senior Associate Professor Matt Gillan, Director of the Center, planned the event with the university organist and instructor, Ms. Mamiko Iwasaki. The JICUF was honored to provide financial support for this unique initiatve.
