On April 27th and 28th (Friday and Saturday), JICUF held its semiannual trustees meeting on the ICU campus. Nine JICUF trustees and four staff gathered on campus for an eventful two days.
We are thrilled to announce Luke Takuya Palermo’s addition to the Japan ICU Foundation as our new Program Assistant. Luke’s job is to help the other full-time JICUF staff with tasks ranging from database management to article translation. We asked him to introduce himself.
We recently hired ICU sophomore student Midori Matsunaga as our photography intern. Midori will help photograph JICUF-sponsored events at ICU as well as the campus each season to keep alumni and friends across the globe up to date. We asked her to introduce herself!

On Friday, September 16th, the JICUF hosted an ICU alumni & friends reception in New York City to welcome President Junko Hibiya and Professor Heather Montgomery from Tokyo. The two guests from ICU were in the city to attend the JICUF’s semi-annual Board of Trustees meeting. The reception was held at Shinbashi restaurant in Midtown and was attended by approximately 80 alumni, friends, trustees and staff.
From July 5th to 29th, we will host the 3rd annual Global Link program here in NYC! This year, we are excited to welcome 12 undergraduate students from ICU and spend an event-packed 4 weeks with them. Ms. Shiori Kitajima, ICU alumna and recent Teacher’s College, Columbia University graduate, has also joined as an intern to help us run the program.
