The JICUF Board of Trustees recently adopted new mission and vision statements that reaffirm our founders’ vision.
On Friday, September 13th, JICUF hosted a 70th Anniversary Dinner at Riverside Church in New York City. 113 alumni and friends attended the event from the New York Metro Area, Boston, Washington D.C. and beyond. Chair of the ICU Board and alumnus Hirotaka Takeuchi was the keynote speaker.
JICUF Executive Director Paul Hastings will move to Mitaka this summer with his family to live and work at ICU for one year. ICU will be providing Paul with an office on campus and he and his family will live in a faculty house.
On April 27th and 28th (Friday and Saturday), JICUF held its semiannual trustees meeting on the ICU campus. Nine JICUF trustees and four staff gathered on campus for an eventful two days.
Last month, Dr. Mark Williams assumed the post of Vice President for International Academic Exchange at ICU. We had the privilege of interviewing him on September 15th, when he visited New York to attend JICUF’s Board of Trustees meeting.
Emily Kariya is a former OYR (’92-93) and an accomplished Japanese Language Teacher at Santa Monica High School in Southern California. She welcomed a combined ICU-JICUF team to her classes this past autumn as part of our September Admissions school visits. JICUF had the chance to follow up with her and learn about her own specific connections to Japan and ICU.
